Let it snow

December 10, 2010

While sitting in Delhi snow is something we never get to see. We have to travel to destinations just to see snow, and that is something we yearn for. But you know what there still isn’t any guarantee that one will see snow!

Trust me! I was 9 years old when I visited the swiss alps, the land of Heidi and snow capped mountains. I stayed there for more than a week, suffered the cold wind, the fog, enjoyed the chocolates and saw all the tiaras and watches on display but couldn’t find no snow. It was my bad luck. My dah-ling brother decided to sleep till late when we were in Paris thus we missed the first TGV, and that was the last day for the mountain pass to be open!!

So i’m in Geneva biting into chocolates cause i’m depressed. Why? Hell NO SNOW! The day we left Switzerland it snowed just 3 days after. 😥

Now as if that wasn’t enough bad luck we decided to go to Shimla a few years after. We rode horses on the Mall Road, had ice cream, munched into juicy apples, bought awesome chinese shoes but still NO SNOW!!
Well what was worse was that it snowed just a week after we left for Delhi?!! I guess it was God’s conspiracy.

Bu then it is said ‘ki sabra ka phal meetha hota hai’ . And trust me it is true! A few years after the Shimla fiasco we decided to visit Kashmir. After hours of traveling by car from Jammu (where we visited Vaishnodevi) we reached the  Jawahar  Tunnel. Driving for 2.5 kilometers in utter darkness wasn’t a good feeling but what we got to see after that was amazing!!

The tunnel opened up into the snow-covered valley. The valley has always been in news, sometimes for terrorist attacks or violence other times for its beauty. And what i witnessed was nothing less than breath taking. A huge expanse of whiteness. For minutes i was speechless. How rightly Jahangir, the Mughal Emperor said about Kashmir , “If there is a Paradise on Earth, it is here, it is here, it is here.”

The sabra ka phal was worth every penny and disappointment (Swiss and Shimla).

And now i hear that it might snow in Delhi cause of extreme cold! It might end up being a another disappointment, so i let it snow on my blog 😀

My luck is just as bad.. just the opposite actually.. I’ve always wished that whichever hill-station I go it should NOT snow, and it ALWAYS ends up snowing there.. 😦
I’m praying that it doesn’t snow in Delhi.. I’d probably die of frost-bite…
But the only place I can stand the snow is my blog.. so bring on the snow on the blog… 😉
    Cheers.. 😉
