Publicity Monger

February 19, 2011

Ever since L.K Advani decided to step down( or made to step down) from the post of the party president, he can rarely be seen in the media. And only once in a while does he make it to the front page.

Of course with the younger generation members like Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley (not that they are young) in the media limelight a 84-year-old man will be left out. But sadly Mr. Advani still believes (or dreams) that he will indeed become the Prime Minister of this country someday.

Just to remain in the eyes of the media and the public Advani has been saying various things just for the heck of it. The latest controversy regarding Jinnah(again) seems to one such effort. Or even going against his party by apologising to Sonia Gandhi  for the BJP task report on black money.

I’m not saying that an old man should have no desires or that senior citizens should just collect their pension and sit back. But for any man/woman, young or old, to believe that they shall always remain the center of attention is wrong.

Like sportsmen and others too, Advani should gracefully set down and give up on his hopes of becoming the PM. He has had a long and fulfilling career as a politician but should now realize that the future has no space for him.

May be Advani considers his career fulfilling only after he becomes PM, chances are very slim though!

It’s interesting to see this point of view. I can’t say fore sure if I agree or not, but it is something I will think about now.
